Q: How do I know that I am getting the right
sized equipment?
A: Unlike the majority of our competitor’s, who merely
work on a “stab in the dark” figure with an estimated load
of ?watts per square metre, the engineers at lakes prepare a
fully computerised heat load and air quantity calculation for every
ducted system.
We don’t believe that our clients should pay good money
for “guesses".
Q: How many outlets or registers do I
need?
A: We at Lakes prepare an electronic survey of your
premises, identifying the exact amount of air required for
comfort conditioning. Our engineers will make a
recommendation of the number of registers based on
aesthetics, performance and other factors.
This being the case we may suggest a fewer number of registers that
are capable of handling larger quantities of air.
Q: Is it true that you need to heat from the
floor and cool from the ceiling?
A: No. A properly designed system with the correct
air-flow, register selection, return air position and air-change
rate will work equally well, whether it is ceiling or floor.
Q: How complicated are the controls to
operate?
A: There are a large number of controls available from
the very simple to quite complex. We at Lakes will discuss your
needs and recommend the most suitable controls.
Q: What style register do I
need?
A: We will suggest the most efficient register for your
application; however there is a large range available for you to
choose from.
Q: There are sometimes large variations
between one quotation and another. How do I know which one to
choose?
A: The old proverbs prevail, “you only get what you pay
for” along with “comparing apples with apples” and nowhere more so
do they apply than in the air conditioning industry.
You really need to ask yourself:
- Is the equipment quoted of equal quality and
performance?
- Is the equipment quoted of reputable manufacture with good
and reliable back up service?
- Are the ductwork and fittings of best quality?
- Have I been shown that the unit suggested and subsequent
duct designs are right for my home?
- Is the company of good reputation and integrity?
